The Cottleville Fire District protects 38 square miles of St. Charles County Missouri. We provide service to all or portions of five different municipalities including the cities of Cottleville, Weldon Spring, Dardenne Prairie, St. Peters, and O’Fallon.
In addition, we provide protection to portions of unincorporated St. Charles County. We run out of four fire stations strategically placed throughout our community, and employ 42 full-time firefighters divided among three different platoons. Our administrative staff consists of a Chief, Assistant Chief of Operations, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal, one full-time building inspector, two part time inspectors, one full-time and one part-time administrative assistant.
Our district takes part in a robust automatic mutual aid system that includes all eleven fire districts within our county as well as fire districts through out the St. Louis metropolitan area. In addition, we participate in the Missouri State-wide mutual aid system. For our residents, and the residents of our neighboring districts as well as those across the state, our involvement in these mutual aid programs ensures adequate resources to handle emergencies.
Over the years the fire service has evolved from a single hazard response agency i.e. fire suppression response, to a multi hazard response agency. Today’s firefighters are faced with challenges from Hazardous Materials, Emergency Medical Services, Homeland Security, and technical rescue operations i.e. confined space, swift water, high angle, trench and building collapse, motor vehicle crashes, etc. If you can think of an emergency situation, it is most likely the fire/rescue service that responds. The Cottleville Fire District has worked tirelessly to keep up with our ever changing responsibilities and to keep our personnel trained at the highest possible levels.
Our Firefighter/EMT’s and Firefighter/Paramedics respond to just under 3000 calls a year for assistance. They complete over 10,000 hours of training annually, and spend countless hours providing station tours and public education.
Divisions
The Cottleville Fire Protection District is divided into Three functional units - Operations, Training, and Prevention. Operations includes emergency response, facilities and vehicle maintenance, public fire education, and specialized rescue operations. Training works to ensure our personnel meet or exceed national standards and maintain a high level of both intellectual and technical acumen. Prevention works to ensure the safety of our citizens through plan review, new construction permitting and inspection, as well as annual business inspections.

More than 2,500 times every year the firefighter/EMTs of the Cottleville Fire Protection District respond to emergency calls from residents of Cottleville, Weldon Spring, Dardenne Prairie, St. Peters, and O’Fallon, Missouri. The District covers 38-square miles of southwestern St. Charles County and operates four fire stations. Firefighters respond to a variety of emergency situations including fires, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents and medical emergencies.
