On Saturday, November, 18, 2017, we will be hosting a one-day kids’ firefighter experience in which we will take up to 24 lucky 6-9-year-olds and teach them the basics of being a firefighter. We will have a series of evolutions that will teach the children such things as fire behavior, search and rescue, hose operations and home fire safety tips!
The day begins at 10:00 am with a short orientation. At 10:15 learning evolutions will begin and lunch will be provided at 12:30. After lunch will be another short evolution and the program will end at 2:00 with the presentation of participant certificates. The best opportunities for pictures and videos will be during the last evolution and at the conclusion of the day.
The cost for participants is $60.00. This covers the cost of your child’s “fire gear”. The gear includes a turnout coat, turnout pants, and adjustable suspenders. The coat will be customized with your child’s name with a maximum of 14 letters. Of course, this isn’t real firefighter gear, but it is much heavier and more reinforced than a Halloween costume. Along with the gear, your child will also receive a pair of rubber boots, a plastic helmet, a gear bag, and bracelet.
You can fill out the attached application form that is below and submit it online.
Selection preference will be given to residents of Cottleville Fire District.
