included an increase in manpower, improvements in our equipment and the addition of a dedicated training officer. These recent factors were made possible with the implementation of our, “CARES” plan that was approved by our citizens back in 2012. These efforts paid off when the results of a recent ISO evaluation resulted in us receiving a new upgraded Class 3 rating from our previous Class 4 rating. Scoring for these classifications are based on a total of 100 points. We received a score of 70.92 points according to Chief Wylie. Training, response times and equipment upgrades also contribute to the total score. This new classification will have big impacts for our community’s fire rating and insurance premiums, especially for businesses and industries that are already located in our Fire District or considering locating here. The ISO is the leading supplier of data and analytics for the property/casualty insurance industry and their Public Protection Classification (PPC) survey is an in-depth analysis of the firefighting system in a community. The new classification will take effect on Dec. 31 of this year.

I am proud to announce that the Cottleville Fire District has achieved an ISO rating of 3 after our latest review, our tax payers will reap the benefit in the form of reduced insurance premiums and better trained, better equipped and a better prepared Fire District said Fire Chief Rob Wylie.
