Firefighters from the Cottleville and O’Fallon fire protection districts were on hand at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Cottleville again this holiday season to unload donated food items to feed the hungry. The Cottleville Knights of Columbus Hall has organized and run this program to feed the hungry for many years. They coordinate the collection of all charitable goods and then sort and package some 2000 food boxes and prepare them to go out to local food pantries for delivery just in time of the Holidays. The pantries then distribute these 2000 meals boxes that can feed nearly 5200 needy people. A typical box will contain stuffing, butter, milk, a vegetable and a turkey and a dessert. Firefighters were enthusiastic to be a part of this program again this year helping out for two days. ”We are making a positive difference in people’s lives, we are proud to be helping out again this year,” says Cottleville Fire Captain Dan Peters.
